Let's take a look at 'The Maleficent' star, Angelina Jolie's 

stunning new set of pictures in the new issue of E L L E 

magazine!

I love me some black and white shots in a photoshoot, which usually span from about 2-3 in a photoshoot on average [from what I have noticed personally].  And with all the outrageous exterior make up, costume and colors in her new movie, I am rather pleased to see it completely go in the other direction here. 

I think we all sound like a broken record at this point discussing her beauty, so we'll move on from that. 

I find black and white shots are really interesting, because they let us play a lot with shine, shapes, lines, textures, contrast and lighting. You're a lot more focused without the distraction of complimenting or clashing colors.

With the simplicity of her tousled hair and minimalistic/natural/light make up, the focus is shifted more towards the shapes, textures and lines of her clothing. Also you will notice the light is fixated [on her right] it does not move, she does. I really like how that plays with her prominent features such as her cheekbones and jawline. It gives the left side of her face a kind of a dark element because it seems to fade away in the shadow seamlessly. 

Lately, in terms of my personal style, I've really been drawn towards menswear - esque fashion for women and myself. Not to say that I want to dress like a man in any sense, but I think it's a lot more comfortable, and also a pleasant change/shift in culture where women are more accepting and more accepted, wearing something not so 'feminine' all the time. 

One of the most talked about red carpet looks this year was Angelina at the BAFTA's wearing something very similar, and that's what I like about her. She's not afraid to go beyond the general statement pieces, she really creates and defines her own sense of fashion. 

I've been literally looking for the perfect leather jacket and a pair of leather pants for the longest time. It's so powerful and simple. It's really something that we should have at least one of each in our wardrobe. They really add to a look.

This look here is my favorite out of them all. 

I LOVE this sequin evening dress. The texture and shine mix perfectly to capture attention. This pose is also very Maleficent inspired.
